ABOUT US:
CapitalGems.ca operates in the Ottawa region of Ontario, Canada. This site was created in 2013 by individuals born and raised in Almonte, Ontario, who humbly set out on a journey to discover the region’s caves, mines, and abandoned places. At the onset of this expedition we found there was a significant gap in this area of exploration in both the online and literary communities. After spending considerable time examining records, maps, forests formations, books, and online resources we found that the region had an exponential amount of places of both natural and historical interest. As luck would have it, our further passion for photography allowed us to document each of our visits and share them with others. Over time, we have recruited others to join us on this journey and CapitalGems.ca is now comprised of ten people and growing, each of them adding their own unique interests and locations. As we grow we have reached out to involve our readers by offering a submit location page so that others can also share their own ideas. We operate mostly during the summer season and new locations are added through out the year depending on our site leads and weather. We're not a business nor do we have any association/links to any government organization provincially or federally within Canada or abroad. We make no money off our work, nor do we charge for using our website or monetize content. Please enjoy our large library of educational content for future generations to enjoy. The halls that once held grandeur and grace, Now crumble with age and disgrace. The faded murals that once adorned the walls, Now washed away by nature's calls. Amidst the silence that lingers on, One can feel the stories that have long gone. Of love, war, and tales untold, Lies a history that's worth being retold. Though time has left its mark, The beauty of these places still sparks. A reminder of the stories that we forget, Of the legacy that we should never neglect. So let us cherish these abandoned places, And learn from the past's silent traces. For they are more than just forgotten sites, They are a testament to life's enduring might. |
