The “Hobbit House” is not really a house at all, but rather a root cellar. A root cellar is partially or wholly underground and usually covered with dirt. The space is used for storage for root crops and other vegetables.
According to a local Canada Post worker, this root cellar was shared by the community of Clyde Forks. The root cellar door was found open upon our arrival in 2016. Since our visit it was renovated in 2017. The town of Clyde Forks is nearly a hundred years old and the cellar reflects that age. Location ID #BR0081 |
