BACK

Picture

INFORMATION

Located 115 km north of Gatineau/Ottawa, in the municipality of Blue Sea, Mount Morissette occupies an area of 589 hectares and rises to a height of 400 meters. Outdoor enthusiasts will greatly appreciate the 13 km of marked hiking trails through the mountain, also accessible in the winter for snowshoeing. An 18 meter observation tower offers breathtaking views of the Valley: 360° of scenery. At the summit you will find a shelter with wood stove, a lookout and a heritage fire tower and educational panels on the history of fire towers.

In the 1930s, the Quebec government set up several forest fire observation towers in the Gatineau Valley, including one on the summit of Mont Morissette. The tower still remains but has not been used for fire prevention in decades and has fallen into disrepair
