Hidden among the pine trees are ruins of an old fireplace/kiln. The ruins can be seen from an old Arial photograph dated 1965 (see below).
The following historical information was written and provided by MC Guérin; On the County Atlas from 1879, the land belonged to a Thomas Beatty (1814 - 1894). Thomas Beatty was the son of some of the pioneer settlers of March township Daniel Beatty (abt. 1780 - 1862) and Jane Smith (abt. 1780 - ?). I am not sure when Thomas moved there or if anyone owned the land prior to him but I believe he was there prior to 1951 as that is the earliest census info I could find. He was married to Elizabeth Graham (1817 - 1863) and they had several children. After her death, he married Eliza Bell Hoag (1820 - 1902) in 1871. After his death, The land became owned by his son Thomas Daniel "Daniel" Beatty (1861 - 1953). Daniel lived there with his wife Lumira Elizabeth Richardson (1865 - 1942) and their children until sometime between 1901 and 1921 when they moved to Westboro Village. I do not know if anyone lived there after Daniel, but seeing as how it was already ruins by the aerial photos taken in 1963, if anyone lived there afterwards they did not live there long.
