The Vietnam War was not well supported among many American citizens who were forced to join the military through the drafting process. Many Americans illegally migrated to Canada to escape being drafted. According to locals who live in the Bell Mount say there is rumor of a settlement that was built on top of a mountain by fleeing American citizens. After researching more into this story we found the location of this settlement, located beside a small lake where there is only one way in and one way out. When walking up hill we stumbled onto a 1965 ford pickup truck surrounded by metal debris. We continued to walk further only to find an impressive three level cottage with an equally impressive large handmade stone chimney located in the middle of the cottage. Upon further examination we found that this cottage can house many and that the private lake and gardens would supply them with enough food and water all year round. Other small multipurpose shacks were found on the property. In the debris that surrounds the cottage we also found, rusting truck parts and Pepsi cans all made in the early 1960’s. This site is a 3 km uphill walk.
